Girls Junior Varsity Field Hockey, Girls Varsity Field Hockey · Track & Field County Championship recap

For those of you who were unable to make it the wet an soggy County Championships last night (my feet are still wet), the team preformed well considering the conditions.
On the Boys side, Michael Gorman and Dylan Madden started the night out with a 7th and 8th place finishing, helping the team score 3 points. Then Kevin Kaufman, ran a season best 2:06.5 in the 800. Followed by a very exciting 3200 where Ben Gersch and Josh Engles finished 3rd and 5th place, helping the team score 10 points (Josh ran his PR). The boys 4 x 400 garnered another point for the team (Michael Gorman, Sam Wasserman, Kevin Kaufman, Dylan Madden) with a season best 3:35.5. On the field side, we David Isaacs just missed on scoring a point with a season best 8-0 in the pole vault and Jesse Hearn competed in the shot put. Way to go guys!
On the girls side, Sarah Bruegmann started the night tying her season best in the high jump. Aniella Delafosse and Natachi Onwuamaegbu got the team started on the track with the 100m dash. Unfortunately, Natachi, who had been sitting taking an AP exam all day, pulled her hamstring and was unavailable for the rest of the meet. Hopefully she will be better by regionals next week. The 4 x 800 took the track hoping to run under ten and take a step close to qualifying for the state championship. The team of Erin O’Conner, Flora Gobet, Jenan El-Hifnawi, and Breanna McDonald pulled everything together for a season best 9:59, finishing 5th and scoring 4 points for the team. But the girls didn’t stop there; next up were Flora and Jenan in a short turnaround to compete in the 1600m. Flora ran a season best in the 1600, Breanna competed in the 400, the 800 and then filled in for Natachi in the 4 x100 (way to take one for the team Breanna), then Erin ran in the 3200! Emma “crocodiles” Liles cruised to win her heat in a season best 50.9 in the 300 hurdles. Which brings us back to Breanna in the girls 4 x 100. The team of Sarah Bruegmann, Aniella Delafosse, Crocodiles, and Breanna ran season best of 52.9! outstanding effort ladies!
Next up is the County B Championship this Saturday at Albert Einstein High School. The meet starts at 9:00 am, hope to see you out there. After that the team will compete in the 2016 4A West Regional Championships with a chance to make it to the State Championship!
