Whitman Vikings JV watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 17-5 loss to Bethesda-Chevy Chase on Wednesday. Bethesda-Chevy Chase took the lead on a double in the first inning.

The Whitman Vikings JV struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Bethesda-Chevy Chase, giving up 17 runs.

In the first inning, Bethesda-Chevy Chase got their offense started when PlayerC doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Whitman Vikings JV scored three runs in the third inning. Whitman Vikings JV offense in the inning was led by Natalie Lewis, Sophia Polley-Fisanich, and Helen Catan, all driving in runs in the frame.

Bethesda-Chevy Chase scored six runs in the sixth inning. Bethesda-Chevy Chase’s big inning was driven by doubles by PlayerF and PlayerB and a single by PlayerH.
Polley-Fisanich toed the rubber for Whitman Vikings JV. She surrendered 16 runs on 11 hits over six innings, striking out two.

Whitman Vikings JV collected 11 hits on the day. Lewis, Anna Berger, and Clara Mattick all had multiple hits for Whitman Vikings JV. Berger and Lewis each managed three hits to lead Whitman Vikings JV.

Bethesda-Chevy Chase racked up 11 hits. PlayerD, PlayerC, and PlayerF each managed multiple hits for Bethesda-Chevy Chase. Bethesda-Chevy Chase stole 21 bases during the game as seven players stole more than one. PlayerD led the way with four.
