Whitman Vikings JV ran off with the lead late in the game in a 24-13 victory over Walter Johnson on Thursday. In the top of the fourth Helen Catan grounded out, scoring one run.

Anna Berger collected four hits in four at bats to help lead Whitman Vikings JV to victory. Berger singled in the first, homered in the third, doubled in the fifth, and singled in the sixth.

In the first inning, Whitman Vikings JV got their offense started when Berger singled on a 3-0 count, scoring one run.

After Whitman Vikings JV scored three runs in the top of the third, Walter Johnson answered with three of their own. Whitman Vikings JV scored when Berger hit a solo homer and Natalie Lewis homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Walter Johnson then answered when PlayerC tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs and PlayerD drew a walk, scoring one run.

Whitman Vikings JV took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Kiwi Klein tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Whitman Vikings JV notched eight runs in the sixth inning. Whitman Vikings JV’s big bats in the inning were led by singles by Berger, Clara Mattick, and Carolyn Catan and a home run by Lewis.

Klein got the win for Whitman Vikings JV. She surrendered 12 runs on five hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out nine.

Whitman Vikings JV hit three home runs on the day. Lewis had a homer in the third and sixth innings. Berger put one out in the third inning.

Whitman Vikings JV totaled 21 hits. Klein, Lewis, Berger, Catan, Evelyn Gregory, Mattick, and Catan each collected multiple hits for Whitman Vikings JV. Berger, Lewis, and Klein each managed four hits to lead Whitman Vikings JV. Whitman Vikings JV stole 26 bases during the game as eight players stole more than one. Gregory led the way with five.
PlayerC led Walter Johnson with two hits in three at bats. PlayerD led Walter Johnson with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 18 stolen bases.
