Both pitching staffs had their hands full on Thursday in a high-scoring affair where Whitman Vikings JV bested Poolesville, 29-11.
Sophia Polley-Fisanich showed a strong eye at the plate in the victory for Whitman Vikings JV, as she walked three times.
In the first inning, Whitman Vikings JV got their offense started when Anna Berger drew a walk, scoring one run.
Whitman Vikings JV put up eight runs in the fourth inning. Natalie Lewis, Berger, Polley-Fisanich, Eva Levy, Helen Catan, and Isabelle Van Nieuwkoop each had RBIs in the big inning.
Polley-Fisanich was the winning pitcher for Whitman Vikings JV. She lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and nine runs while striking out one. Berger threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Berger recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Whitman Vikings JV.
Catan led Whitman Vikings JV with three hits in three at bats. Polley-Fisanich led Whitman Vikings JV with eight stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 35 stolen bases.
